Veronica's first taste of merchandising came when she was just ten years old, helping merchandise the candy rack in her parents' Mexican bakery located on the famous Route 66. It was during this time that she discovered her attention to detail and developed a desire to make everything visually appealing and shoppable. Accompanying her mother on numerous business trips. Veronica delved deeper into the world of merchandising, exploring downtown LA and honing her skills in the art and science of the trade. She quickly learned the importance of listening to the consumer and developed an eye for trends and consumer preferences. She adopted Mother’s famous consumer motto, “You can’t sell what you don’t have. Listen to every customer, they will teach you something!”
As she grew older, Veronica sought to expand her horizons beyond her family's bakery. She joined Patrini and Shoes at the age of fifteen, from that experience she sparked a lifelong passion for the footwear industry. After graduating from high school, Veronica pursued her studies in fashion design and merchandising at the prestigious Fashion Institute in Downtown Los Angeles. Her goal was clear - to become a product developer and merchandiser, utilizing the skills she had acquired from a young age - listening to customers, organizing store floors, and understanding consumer needs.
Her professional journey continued as she worked for renowned brands in the industry, including Steve Madden at Macy's and the Gap Inc. in the Southeast. She gained invaluable experience as a merchandise manager, coaching and training large teams while successfully implementing visual standards and managing operations. Returning to Los Angeles, Veronica excelled in multiple roles simultaneously, discovering her ability to wear many hats and placing great importance on the people aspect of business.
Recruited by Skechers, Veronica embraced an entry-level role, confident that her vision and dedication would lead her to greater heights. True to her belief, she was promoted every year, eventually becoming involved in international merchandising and overseeing Canada and company-owned European stores. Veronica's ambition soared, and she aspired to become a global leader in the retail merchandising, providing a universal perspective and a keen focus on people devolvement and growth.
In 2021, Veronica moved to Latin America, a place near and dear to her heart, to take on the role of Head of Merchandising for Pandora overseeing all of Latin America. Throughout her journey, Veronica has overcome numerous obstacles, developed a diverse skill set, and mentored others along the way. Her strengths and expertise lie in Merchandise planning, Assortment Strategy, understanding complete product life cycles, store planning, and brand development. Veronica remains up-to-date with the latest industry trends, with a particular emphasis on footwear. She possesses a knack for identifying trends and opportunities, and her leadership style revolves around training, coaching, and empowering people.
